14th Annual Crawfish Boil
On Apr. 5 students from across UTHealth Houston filled the Cooley University Life Center Courtyard for the 14th Annual Crawfish Boil hosted by Student InterCouncil and Auxiliary Services.
Nearly 900 students were served this year with 800 lbs. of crawfish, 400 lbs. of shrimp, 1000 hotdogs/veggie dogs, beverages, music, and games for them and their guests.
UTHealth Houston Cares Community Health Fair
The impact of community health initiatives was powerfully demonstrated on Saturday, March 22, at the UTHealth Houston Cares Community Health Fair, a student-led health fair in its sixth year. Sixteen-year-old Sarahi Perla confirmed what she suspected – blindness in one eye – through an examination she might never have otherwise received. Despite this significant diagnosis, Sarahi’s enthusiasm remained high as she also took advantage of dental screenings.
Healthcare Innovation Collaborative
On Mar. 1 Healthcare Innovation Collaborative recorded its highest ever turnout.
Sixteen interdisciplinary teams, varying in size between four and six students, from various disciplines, and from six UTHealth Houston schools, came together to address this year’s case brief, “Addressing Older Adult Care in Harris County.”
