I. POLICY AND GENERAL STATEMENT

Employees of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston may be required to wear uniforms in any organizational unit at the discretion of the department head and the head of the operating unit involved.

Whenever management requires an employee to wear a specific uniform, non-compliance may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination.

II. PROCEDURE

A department has the option of providing a uniform as required gear for an employee working in that department.

If a uniform is provided, as approved by compensation, the department may authorize a cleaning allowance to help defray the cost of maintaining the uniform. Cleaning and clothing allowances shall not be considered compensation for purposes of retirement contribution determination.
