Texas Elder Abuse and Mistreatment Collaboratory
The Texas Elder Abuse and Mistreatment Collaboratory (TEAM) is a long-standing partnership established in 1995 between the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston now known as UTHealth Houston, McGovern Medical School, and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Division of Adult Protective Services (APS). Over the years, TEAM has grown to include more than 30 community partner organizations and is organized into four multidisciplinary divisions — Research and Program Evaluation, Forensic Assessments, Education, and Justice. Together, these divisions work to enhance the well-being of older adults who have experienced abuse, neglect, or exploitation, while also striving to prevent mistreatment in communities across Texas and beyond. TEAM has earned national recognition for its leadership in innovative research and program initiatives that translate evidence-based findings into practical, community-based services.
TEAM was established through the vision and dedication of the late Carmel B. Dyer, MD.
