Student Regent and/or TX Coordinating Board Student Representative

To aid the Governor in his selections for the UT System Student Regent and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) student member, the chancellor of each university system must recommend students based on applications submitted by each president on behalf of the institution's student government organization. The Student InterCouncil (SIC) is the institutional student government organization for UTHealth. The SIC will review all applications and then make final recommendations to President Colasurdo. Each UT System institution is allowed to submit up to five applicants for both student positions.
UTHealth Student Applicant Timeline:
October 24, 2014 - Call for student applications.
November 14, 2014 - Deadline for submission of student applications.
December 8, 2014 - SIC recommendation to UTHealth President
December 12, 2014 - UTHealth President submission to UT System Office.
UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS SYSTEM STUDENT REGENT:
In 2005, the 79th Texas Legislature authorized the Governor to appoint a non-voting student regent for each university or university system for a term not to exceed one year beginning June 1 and ending May 31 of the following calendar year. Eligibility requirements can be found on the student application form. UT System student regent time commitment is outlined here.
TEXAS HIGHER EDUCATION COORDINATING BOARD STUDENT MEMBER:
The Texas Edcuation Code Section 61.0225 authorizes the Governor to appoint a non-voting student representative to the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for a term not to exceed one year beginning June 1 and ending May 31 of the following calendar year.
