For the remainder of the 2012-2013 academic year, four competitive $1,200 merit-based scholarships are available to SBMI students from the Doris Ross Merit Based Scholarship and President James T. and Nancy Beamer Willerson Endowed Scholarship. Students must be currently enrolled in a graduate degree program at SBMI and in good standing.

Considerations include:

            • Grade Point Average

            • Pattern of academic achievement

            • Success in overcoming socioeconomic or educational disadvantages

            • Previous and recent publication in the discipline

To apply, please submit (1) a letter that includes a statement of your Biomedical/Health Informatics goals and address the considerations listed above; and (2) a recommendation letter from members of the student’s faculty advising committee, to sbmiacademics@uth.tmc.edu, by January 7, 2013. All submissions must be electronic. Paper submissions will not be accepted. The submitted documents should be in word format with the student's name in the file name. A faculty member from the Scholarship and Awards Committee recommends the recipients for the scholarships to the Dean.
