Institute on Aging leads UTHealth Houston in 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s success
The UTHealth Houston Institute on Aging led the university community in the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s, held November 8 at TMC Helix Park, raising a total of $12,752 with 197 walkers across 18 UTHealth Houston teams. The Institute on Aging coordinated university-wide participation and sponsored the popular selfie-station, bringing together students, faculty, staff, and families in support of the Alzheimer’s Association’s mission.
“Seeing so many colleagues and families come together for such an amazing cause was truly inspiring,” said Erica Crosno, Marketing and Communications Coordinator for the Institute on Aging. “The positive vibe in the atmosphere was palpable. That vibe, that energy truly reflects UTHealth Houston’s deep commitment to supporting our community and advancing the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.”
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event dedicated to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. Each year, participants from across the Greater Houston area join forces to advance understanding, honor loved ones, and help end the disease that affects more than 6 million Americans.
“It was incredibly moving to see the Institute on Aging lead such a strong university-wide effort,” said Lariza McBean, MSc, EMBA, Administrative Director for the Institute on Aging.
The Institute on Aging continues to promote education, research, and community partnerships that improve the lives of older adults and their families. The Institute on Aging’s leadership in this year’s walk reflects its ongoing commitment to fostering an age-friendly community and advancing the fight against Alzheimer’s disease through both advocacy and action.
