Translational Research in Biobehavioral Approaches to Pain in the Era of Precision Science

Event Description

A working retreat in building multidisciplinary collaborations in pain research

You’re invited to join us for a dynamic symposium and working retreat focused on continuing our progress in building multidisciplinary collaborations in rigorous and reproducible biobehavioral pain research.

Sponsored by the Cizik Nursing Research Institute at UTHealth Houston, the Suzie Conway Endowed Professorship in Nursing, and the Maria C. and Christopher J. Pappas Family Distinguished Chair in Nursing, this retreat is designed to help us connect across disciplines, share ideas, and identify concrete next steps for growing our collective impact.

Guided by the National Center for Advancing Translational Science Model, we will explore turning observations in the laboratory, clinic, and community into biobehavioral interventions for pain that improve the health of individuals and the public. Our shared goal is to continue our momentum toward a university-wide center of excellence in biobehavioral pain research.

Event details:

  • Date/Time: August 28, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. (Reception 5-6 p.m.)
  • Location: Institute of Molecular Medicine (IMM)
  • Theme: Translational Research in Biobehavioral Approaches to Pain in the Era of Precision Science

What to expect

  • Invited speakers and short talks spanning mechanistic, clinical, and implementation science perspectives
  • Facilitated panel presentations on moving your scientific discoveries from bench to bedside
  • Interactive discussions to generate ideas and next steps for multi-PI proposals and training/center mechanisms (e.g., R13, P30, T32)

Who should attend
