Center for Infectious Diseases Lecture with Runzi Le, MPH (In Person and TEAMS Link)

Event Description

Join us for a lecture from Runzi (Kevin) Li, MPH talking about Wastewater Leads Cases: Time Lag Patterns and Socioeconomic Drivers Wastewater surveillance is a powerful tool for tracking infectious disease dynamics at the community level. This presentation demonstrates how wastewater data can provide early warning of COVID-19 trends before clinical indicators rise. Using data from hundreds of wastewater treatment plants, multiple statistical approaches are compared to quantify lead time and evaluate how sampling frequency affects early detection. Machine learning is also applied to identify socioeconomic and community characteristics associated with stronger early warning signals.
