Join the National Collaborative on Humanities and Ethics in Dentistry welcomes Lainie Ross, MD, PhD, Dean's Professor and inaugural Chair of the Department of Health Humanities and Bioethics, and Director of the Paul M. Schyve, MD, Center for Bioethics at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Dr. Ross will consider 4 case studies. First, a brief history of research ethics will be presented, followed by a comparison of two studies (Willowbrook and Vipeholm), one medical and one dental. The third case involves clinical trials of toothpaste, and the fourth case study examines the controversies raised by community-wide fluoridation.
