Seminar/Training Descriptions
We offer a research-based smoking cessation program using The American Cancer Society’s Fresh Start Program as a foundation, along with other more in-depth information and experiential exercises. The program consists of four sessions lasting between 60 – 90 minutes each over a 2 week period of time, with approximately 5 to 10 participants. Sam Hester, our smoking cessation specialist who successfully quit smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day over 20 years ago, will travel to your worksite and conduct the trainings. Everything that is shared by the participants during the group sessions will be confidential.
For individuals who are actively smoking and have an honest desire to quit, the group can be effective -- whatever the long term outcome is of one who stops permanently or continues to smoke. Part of the expectation of the program is that everyone will seriously make an attempt during the process, by setting a quit date and stopping. Understandably, the rate of relapse can be quite high -- so no one need be shamed if they start back during the group. However, the expectations are high and the results can be phenomenal!
