Welcome to University Travel!

University Travel provides a resource of information to the university community to provide assistance and guidance regarding UTHealth’s travel policies in regard to contracted travel agency, air fares, rental car agencies, lodging, and the individually billed travel card.  Information is also provided for the International SOS Insurance and documentation for travel to Washington DC and the surrounding areas. 

University Travel acts as a liaison between UTHealth, UT System and the contracted travel vendors. We work with UT System, the other fourteen UT components and the State of Texas in a collaborative effort to negotiate contracts that provide best value, services and reporting capabilities to meet the university’s needs. Participation in the program enables us the ability to utilize combined purchasing power and economies of scale to control costs, maintain service levels, and offer innovative travel tools to travelers and travel planners. It also allows us to collect travel data system-wide providing information needed to negotiate contracts more effectively to reduce travel costs for the university. Reservations made outside the program, using the internet or other agencies do not count toward System or State of Texas travel volume nor can all data be captured effectively.

This website is not meant to constitute the sum of all travel policies, but to provide assistance in managing travel planning. Travelers and travel arrangers are still subject to the rules, laws, statutes, and policies that regulate university business travel.  Contact the manager of Travel Services if you need assistance in obtaining additional travel information. 

Mandatory Use:

Use of the contracted travel agency, Corporate Travel Planners (CTP), is mandatory for securing airfare.  The use of the car rental agency’s State contracted account rates through Enterprise, National, Avis or Budget is also mandatory for securing contract rates and coverage.  Any exceptions to the policy must be reviewed by the Manager of Travel Services in advance of travel or purchase outside of the contracted agencies.
