Various offices, listed below, throughout the UTHealth campus provide assistance and oversight for research projects. This collaborative team of professionals works to meet the needs of faculty pursing excellence in research and scholarly activates.
The Office of the Executive Vice President for Academic and Research Affairs
Pre-Award advises, facilitates, and supports faculty in all aspects of their efforts associated with pre-award sponsored projects administration. Pre-Award provides pre-proposal guidance; assistance with proposal preparation and approval; and develops, negotiates and accepts sponsored projects contracts on behalf of UTHealth. Pre-Award reviews and negotiates federal, state, local, and private proposals and contracts to ensure adherence to agency and institutional guidelines.
Post Award Finance assists Principal Investigators and department administrators with the management of their grants and contracts once they have been awarded. The PAF team is responsible for ensuring sponsored projects accounts are set up correctly, managed accurately, and closed out appropriately. Additionally, PAF reviews and monitors expenditures from federal funds in accordance with OMB Circulars A-110, A-21, and A-133 cost allowability and audit requirements. PAF also assists with various granting agencies’ terms and conditions, ensuring guidelines are met. PAF serves as liaison for the University when external auditors perform financial audits on grant and contract accounts.
Research compliance programs support the University’s policy that research and research training activities be conducted safely, ethically, and in keeping with all federal, state, and local requirements and regulations (HOOP 168).
