Office of Sponsored Projects

In accordance with University policy HOOP 168, all awards for sponsored research are made to the University and not to an individual. The PI named in the award is authorized to administer the sponsored project on behalf of the University as outlined by University business procedures.

While the University is legally responsible for the stewardship of an award, the investigator is accountable to the sponsor, the University, and the school and/or department in which the program is housed. In addition to bearing the responsibility for conducting the program, investigators must be aware of and observe all of the terms and conditions of the award, often delineated on the Notice of Grant Award (NOGA) or sponsored agreement.
