SBMI introduces an app for Apple and Android devices

Published January 14, 2013

Would you like to enroll in a Moodle course, check assignment due dates or review your grade book from your smartphone or tablet? Well there is an app for that!

You can perform these tasks and more in Moodle on an iPhone, iPad, iPad mini, iPod Touch or Android-powered device. These apps are designed to enhance student mobile learning experience and not meant to replace the SBMI Moodle site. Instructors may also enjoy the convenience, although editing a course may be challenging on a small screen. Please send your feedback (positive and negative) about the apps to de@uth.tmc.edu

Note that independent of the new mobile apps, SBMI Moodle 2.4 has a new skin that provides an optimized interface when viewed on a mobile device screen.

SBMI Master's Student, Stephanie Tucker, had this to say about the new app:

"Mooble is much easier than using the browser to access Moodle from my phone. Specifically, it was very helpful in accessing reading materials when travelling or when I'm away from my laptop. With this app, you can take care of basic functionalities of Moodle with ease, including taking quizzes, reading assignments and even uploading files. This app makes the student experience easier, as I can do some elements of school while on the go—eliminating the need to always have a computer with me. This means I can check on grades and due dates, answer or post messages and all kinds of other features, sometimes it's even faster than getting to Moodle on the computer. I can't wait until it's in regular use!"

"Great job in making Moodle available through mobile technology. I just downloaded Mooble for iPad and love it. It works great!"
