Job Summary: The School of Biomedical Informatics (SBMI) at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) has one tenure-track faculty position in the area of cognitive informatics at either associate or full professor level. The successful applicant will join the National Center for Cognitive Informatics and Decision Making in Healthcare, funded by the SHARP program under the Office of National Coordinator for Health IT. UTHealth is in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center (TMC) located in cosmopolitan Houston, Texas, the fourth largest city in the United States. SBMI currently offers Master's and Ph.D. Degrees, along with a certificate program in biomedical and health informatics.
Additional Summary Specific to Job:
- RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to lead an active, funded research program, participate in teaching activities at the graduate level, and provide services at the school, university, national, and international levels. Collaborative research with other faculty in the school and across UTHealth and the Texas Medical Center is expected
- QUALIFICATIONS: The individual should possess a doctoral degree in cognitive science, cognitive psychology, human computer interaction, human factors, computer science, decision science, artificial intelligence, biomedical informatics, visualization, or related disciplines. A clinical degree in medicine, nursing, or dentistry, though not required, is a plus. A strong track record of extramural funding and published research are required. Experience of doing cognitive and informatics research in real world clinical settings are highly desirable.
- SALARY: Competitive and dependent upon qualifications and experience.
- APPOINTMENT/BENEFITS: This position is a 12-month full-time appointment in the tenure track.
