Abstract:

The working conditions of doctors in Japan are very demanding, though the Labor Standard Law basically limits the maximum number of working hours to 40 h per week. According to a Japan Medical Worker Association survey, a staggering 96 percent of doctors reported working continuously after completing night duty, and moreover nearly 30 percent could not get a day off during the month before the month of the survey.(1)
