Student's Advising Committee

Certificate Students

The Director of Certificate Programs advises all Certificate Program students. A student is responsible for arranging to meet with the Director at least once a semester. The student must file a degree plan with the Office of Academic Affairs.

The degree plan must be signed and a copy sent to the Office of Academic Affairs by the beginning of the second semester that student is admitted to the program. Each semester, the student must obtain approval from the course instructor to register for a specific class. After this approval is obtained, contact the Office of Academic Affairs for the approval code.

Master's Students

A student is responsible for arranging to meet with their academic advising committee at least once a semester. The student must obtain approval from the committee members for the degree plan, determine the support courses, and practicum site and objectives. A minimum of three committee meetings are required: 1) to sign the student's degree plan; 2) to establish the practicum site and to agree upon the objectives for the practicum; and 3) to review how the student met the practicum objectives and to review the student's state of the science paper. The student must meet with the academic advising committee once a year to review the degree plan and progress in the program.

Doctoral Students

A minimum of three committee meetings are required: 1) to sign the degree plan; 2) to establish the preceptorship site and agree upon the objectives for the preceptorship; and 3) to review how the student met the preceptorship objectives and review the student's dissertation. The student must meet with the academic advising committee once a year to review the degree plan and progress in the program.
