The Certificate of Health Informatics is designed for self-motivated professionals working in the healthcare and information technology fields.

The certificate provides professionals with an increased understanding of the opportunities and challenges involved in integrating information technology into healthcare. Professionals will be able to participate in designing, planning, implementing and evaluating new information technology.

SBMI is experienced in providing education to working professionals. The certificate program is designed to provide quality education to professionals on their schedule.

Types of Certificates

Three different certificates are offered. Each certificate consists of 5 three-SCH (semester credit hour) courses, for a total of 15 hours of graduate credit.

CERTIFICATE OF APPLIED HEALTH INFORMATICS

Designed for motivated professionals working in health information technology fields, to provide them with the knowledge and skills to assess, implement, maintain and evaluate Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and health information systems.  This certificate can be obtained via two options: 

  • Option 1 - A set of 5 predetermined courses with an emphasis in Electronic Health Records (EHRs). 
  • Option 2 - Any 5 classes chosen from the course set of the Master of Science program in Applied Health Informatics with guidance from the Certificate Program Director. This option allows professionals to customize their studies to meet their background and needs.


Certificate of Applied Health Informatics Curriculum

CERTIFICATE OF HEALTH INFORMATICS

Designed for healthcare professionals as well as information technology professionals working in the healthcare setting, this certificate can be obtained via two options.  

  • Option 1 - A set of 5 classes with an emphasis in clinical informatics.   
  • Option 2 - Any 5 classes chosen from the catalog. This option allows professionals interested in biomedicine or learning and technology to customize their certificate to meet their needs. Certificate of Health Informatics Curriculum

CERTIFICATE OF PUBLIC HEALTH INFORMATICS

Consisting of 5 courses from both the School of Public Health and the School of Biomedical Informatics, this certificate is designed for physicians, nurses, public health and allied health practitioners interested in the public health aspects of informatics.
