Total Institutional Net Assignable Square Feet (NASF) reported as “Net Usable Area” as defined by The National Center for Education Statistics Postsecondary Education Facilities Inventory and Classification Manual 2006. Refer to page 31 of the manual section 3.2.7 - The sum of all areas on all floors of a building either assigned to, or available for assignment to, an occupant or specific use, or necessary for the general operation of a building. Net Usable Area is computed by summing the Net Assignable Area and the Nonassignable Area. Included should be space subdivisions of the 10 assignable major space use categories and the 3 non-assignable space categories defined in the NCES FICM.
EHS Full Time Equivalent (FTE) Staff full time equivalent employees equal the number of employees on full-time schedules plus the number of employees on part-time schedules converted to a full-time basis including technical, managerial, and directorial staff that support the EH&S function plus administrative support staff. Include staff outside the EH&S unit, but they must devote half time or greater (>0.5 FTE) to safety function based on a standard 40 hour work week. Contractors included only if onsite time is half time or greater (>0.5 FTE).
EHS Expenditures defined as the total amount of funds expended by the EHS unit in a fiscal year including salary and operations and maintenance, but not including capital expenditures or benefits.
