Aquatics

Aquatics Programs held at the Recreation Center are offered in our outdoor, Olympic size swimming pool. The pool is heated and open year round. The pool is always open for lap swimming during open facility hours. The pool closes 30 minutes prior to closing time. Open swim hours are available during the warmer months and when the blankets are removed from the pool.

The Recreation Center is able to offer a variety of year round aquatics programs through a rental contract agreement with some established groups.  These programs are for our members and others interested.

The staff of these groups has no employment affiliation with UTHealth and all payments for services will be handled directly with each group representative.  We encourage you to contact them if you have any questions.

SWIM LESSONS

Are offered mainly in the summer through the Recreation Center.
Lessons are open to members and non-members who meet eligibility requirements.
Registration usually opens in early May with classes held in June thru early August.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

The Recreation Center hires casual staff to teach swim lessons and or be pool deck supervisors. If interested, please see the job descriptions listed below and visit Human Resources to apply online for the position of Pool Attendant or Swim Instructor. Employment is for late May thru August. We start accepting applications in March.
