Interim Dean, UTHealth School of Public Health and
Senior Vice President for Strategic Planning
On September 1, 2014, Osama Mikhail, Ph.D., began serving as interim dean of the UTHealth School of Public Health. Dr. Mikhail previously served as UTHealth’s senior vice president for strategic planning, director of the Fleming Center for Healthcare Management, and has been a professor of Management and Policy Sciences at the School of Public Health since his arrival in 1989.
Dr. Mikhail was involved in strategic planning for 30 years at the Mead Corporation, Eli Lilly, the Sisters of Charity Healthcare System and St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System. He also has been a consultant on strategic planning at Westchester Medical Center in New York, at Duke University and Vanderbilt University Medical Centers, as well as for several large physician groups in Houston.
