"Mission: To introduce students to the field of Nanomedicine and the vast opportunities it provides for enhanced therapeutics, personalized medicine, medical diagnostics, imaging, screening, prevention and regenerative medicine.
This concentration is designed to enhance the knowledge and training of medical students interested in translational and basic science research in Nanomedicine and Biomedical Engineering (nBME). Our goal is to educate and prepare medical students to learn emerging new technologies in biomedical nanotechnology and engineering. The nBME concentration will synergize with ongoing educational, training and outreach activities at the Alliance for NanoHealth (ANH), UT-Inter-Institutional Department of Biomedical Engineering (UT-BME) and ongoing Center grant programs of the nBME department (i.e., DOD Breast Cancer Research Programs Innovator Award, NCIs U54 Physical Sciences Oncology Centers, etc.). Faculty mentors are members of the Department of nBME and collaborators with common research goals and/or shared funding on major center and departmental grants.

UT Health Summer Research Program The Department of Nanomedicine and Biomedical Engineering also supports students interested in joining the UTHealth Medical School's ten week long Summer Research Program. Students often elect to take part in both the Summer Research Program and the Scholarly Concentration Program.
