GSBS Academics
The Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences (GSBS) offers M.S., Ph.D., and M.D./Ph.D. training in 21 areas of study or an individual, interdisciplinary option. Students are admitted directly to the GSBS and may select their area of study before, during, or after the 1st year and choose an advisor from nearly 600 faculty members.
The faculty are drawn from the Medical, Dental, Public Health, and Health Information Sciences Schools of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, and the Texas A&M University Institute of Biosciences and Technology. GSBS training programs and faculty research support are highly ranked on the national level.
The GSBS has a unique organization in which faculty form inter-institutional training Programs based upon common research interests. All Programs offer the breath and depth of training required for a successful career in modern biomedical science. The M.S. and Ph.D. degrees require a minimum of 30 and 54 hours, respectively, of pertinent coursework.
