GS210083 Biomaterials: Concepts and Practice II

Taylor, S. Ray, Ph.D.. Three semester hours. Spring annually. Prerequisite: Consent of Instructor. Biomaterials: Concepts and Practice I

The biologic response to materials and material response to the biologic environment are at the core of the field of biomaterials.  DBPG 3 will continue the discussion of material properties, but expand into performance limiting topics and the interactions between materials and the biological environment. This course will teach students how all of these factors interact to affect the medical outcome. The concepts presented in the lectures will be reinforced through laboratory experiments performed by the students, demonstrations, case studies, and student presentations.
