The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) has been awarded approximately $6 million by the Cancer Prevention & Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT). Cancer is a leading cause of death in the Lone Star State and is expected to claim the lives of almost 40,000 Texans this year.

The University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences at Houston alumnus John Kopchick, Ph.D., has been named a 2012 National Academy of Inventors Charter Fellow and will be inducted into the Academy at its annual conference to be held on Feb. 22, 2013, in Tampa, Fla.
