Morano named 2012-2013 McGovern teaching award recipientMay 20, 2013
The University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences would like to congratulate Kevin Morano, Ph.D., on being named the 2012-2013 recipient of The McGovern Award for Outstanding Teaching. This award recognizes a GSBS faculty member who has significantly contributed to the education and training of GSBS students. Morano was recognized for this achievement during the 2013 GSBS graduation ceremony on May 18.
Morano is an associate professor in the department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at the Medical School and has been a GSBS faculty member since 2000. He is affiliated with the Microbiology and Molecular Genetics; Biochemistry and Molecular Biology; and Cell and Regulatory Biology programs. He is currently serving an unprecedented second term as the GSBS faculty president.
Morano was recently awarded the Darlington Award from GSBS in February, which was established to honor Paul E. Darlington, Ph.D., GSBS associate dean and interim dean and is given to a current GSBS faculty member who has made an exceptional impact, as a mentor, on students and faculty.
This is the second McGovern Award for Morano who was previous honored with this distinction in 2007.
