MOBILE DEVICE SUPPORT for STUDENTS

GSBS Students are allowed to connect a single Exchange ActiveSync (EAS) supported device to the UTHealth e-mail system. Multiple devices per student are not permitted at this time.

The behavior of your mobile device will change:

These profiles will be enforced on your device. If you access or process Protected Health Information (PHI) you will be given the "Secure" profile.
Regular Profile Secure Profile
  1. Four digits non-simple password
  2. Password expires every 90 days
  3. Screen locks after 15 minutes of inactivity
  4. Ten failed logon attempts before auto wipe
  5. Remote wipe is enabled
  6. Can’t use the last five passwords
  7. Encryption is optional
  1. Six digits non-simple password
  2. Password expires every 90 days
  3. Screen locks after 15 minutes of inactivity
  4. Ten failed logon attempts before auto wipe
  5. Remote wipe is enabled
  6. Can’t use the last ten passwords
  7. Encryption is required
These profiles are applied by user NOT by device. For example: if you have an Android device on a secure profile, and replaced that with an Iphone, it will now have the secure profile.
If you report your device lost or stolen, we can remote wipe the device provided it still has an active data connection. This will erase ALL data on the device.
Supported devices
Jailbroken devices are not supported. UTHealth does not provide support for, or permit connectivity to any other EAS enabled device. A Mobile Device FAQ is available at https://inside.uthouston.edu/dcos/mobiledevice/faq/. This URL is accessible while connected to the UTHealth network.
