About Us
Mission
The mission of the Gulf Coast Regional Extension Center (GCREC) is to facilitate safe, effective, and meaningful use of state-of-the-art health information technology by all healthcare providers in the region by focusing on primary care practices and their integration with local, state, and federal Health Information Exchange activities with the ultimate goal of improving the health of the citizens they serve.
Vision
To create a safe and secure electronic environment for the input, storage, retrieval, and exchange of comprehensive health information for consumers, clinicians, payers, and governmental health agencies.
- Consumers – access to personal health data anytime, anywhere
- Clinicians – access to comprehensive patient data, communication with patients, laboratories, payers, and governmental agencies
- Payers – access to real time billing data for prompt reimbursement of clinical claims
- Governmental agencies – access to real time public health data
Additional Information
The GCREC covers the southern areas of Texas along the Gulf Coast. The GCREC region contains 10,861,901 patients, representing 44.09% of the Texas population.
