The UTHealth Advanced Education Programs of the School of Dentistry is composed of three types of students: postgraduate, graduate, and resident.

  • A postgraduate student is a dentist registering and paying tuition and fees for courses leading to a certificate in the specialty area.
  • A graduate student is a dentist registering and paying tuition and fees for courses leading to a Master of Science degree and a certificate in a dental specialty area.
  • A resident is a dentist who receives training in a specialty area, is paid a stipend, and who receives a certificate of completion.
  • Residencies are available only in oral and maxillofacial surgery.
