UTHealth named one of Houston’s top workplaces
The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth) has been named one of Houston’s Top Workplaces for 2010, according to a survey published in the Houston Chronicle.
“Our people are the reason we scored so well, and I appreciate them for making this a great place to work,” said Larry R. Kaiser, MD, president of UTHealth. “We have an important mission to accomplish together – creating a healthier city, state, nation and world – and we make a real difference in people’s lives.”
UTHealth ranked 16th in the category for companies and organizations with more than 500 employees. The survey, conducted by WorkPlaceDynamics, measured six factors: conditions, pay and benefits, managers, execution, career and direction. The UTHealth employees who completed the survey scored the university among the top 26 on all six factors.
Survey participants said benefits, job flexibility, work/life balance and respect for supervisors were among the reasons UTHealth is a top workplace.
“We learned some important information about the areas where we’re strong, and we also gained insights that will help us grow stronger,” Kaiser said.
“I am proud to serve as president of a university that has positioned itself to tackle the complexities of a challenging era in health care,” Kaiser said. “I am equally proud to serve the employees of UTHealth, from whom we all find inspiration.”
