Heart Walk

John H. Freeman Remembered

Charles A. Saunders, retired partner at Fulbright and Jaworski law firm, recently donated a framed birthday card that was presented to John H. Freeman on Oct. 23, 1976 - Freeman's 90th birthday. A small reception, complete with birthday cake, took place on the 122nd anniversary of Freeman's birthday. Saunders is pictured above. next to the framed card and a portrait of Freeman that hangs in the new UT Medical School at Houston research facility, the building that replaced the former John H. Freeman Building.

Fleming Center

The second George McMillan Fleming Center for Healthcare Management lecture series with healthcare leaders in the Texas Medical Center took place Oct. 27 at The University of Texas School of Public Health at Houston. Present at the event were Scott Fleming, Leon J. Leach, executive vice president of UT M. D. Anderson Cancer Center and chair of the Fleming Center Advisory Board, UT Health Science Center at Houston President Larry R. Kaiser, M.D., George Fleming and Osama Mikhail, Ph.D., director of the center.

Wallace Distinguished University Chair Celebrated

The John S. Dunn Research Foundation recently established the C. Harold and Lorine G. Wallace Distinguished University Chair at The Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases (IMM). On hand to recognize the occasion during an Oct. 29 reception was former UT Health Science Center President James T. Willerson, M.D., Tom Caskey, M.D., director of the IMM, Lorine and Harold Wallace and current UT Health Science Center at Houston President Larry R. Kaiser, M.D.
