The Fleming Center was established in April 2008 in the name of the late George McMillan Fleming, a past president of the Texas Hospital Association and healthcare leader at numerous hospitals in the state, including The Methodist Hospital. Through the faculty and curriculum developed at the Fleming Center, the UT School of Public Health will offer M.P.H. and Dr.P.H./ Ph.D. programs with a healthcare management concentration, providing students with effective tools for managing healthcare institutions while providing a public health context by linking to health policy and community well-being. The new M.P.H. major in healthcare management has received approval from the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and it is anticipated that the first class of students will be enrolled in the fall of 2009.
The panel discussion is open to the public. For information about the event, please call Shannon Larson at 713-500-3252. For more information about the degree programs, please call James Langabeer II, the Fleming Center's associate director, at 713-500-9190.
