Houston Attorney Appointed to UT System Board of Regents

In February, Texas Gov. Rick Perry appointed Houston attorney Janiece Longoria to The University of Texas System Board of Regents. Longoria is a director at CenterPoint Energy and a commissioner of the Port of Houston Authority and serves on the board of the Greater Houston Partnership, the Galveston Bay Foundation and the Heritage Society.

She replaces Robert Estrada of Fort Worth whose term expired in February 2005. He was one of nearly 400 holdover appointments who continued to serve until the governor named successors. Longoria's term will expire in 2011 as if the six-year appointment had been made in 2005.
