Young Investigators Attract Funding, Cover Broad Range of Research
Outstanding scientists honored for success early in their careers
Recently, The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston held a small ceremony and luncheon honoring some of the health science center's outstanding young researchers working on a wide variety of research topics. These young investigators, nominated by their deans and selected by the Research Council, were singled out for their success in launching independent research programs, assembling research teams and establishing research laboratories or research programs. Many of these investigators have been successful in attracting research grants from federal or local agencies as well as in publishing research papers in scientific journals.
"The UT Health Science Center's faculty is proud of the achievements of these young stars of research," said James T. Willerson, M.D., health science center president. "We look forward to the growth of their research programs over the years to come."
