Honors

Donna Nichols, community health specialist at the Michael and Susan Dell Center for Advancement of Healthy Living, accepted an invitation from Michael O. Leavitt, the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services Secretary, to serve on the Board of Scientific Counselors for the National Center for Health Marketing. This board will provide advice to the Secretary, Department of Health and Human Services; and the Director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on strategies and goals for the programs and research within the national center; conducts peer review of scientific programs; and monitor the overall strategic direction and focus of the national center.

Marlene Cohen, Ph.D., R.N., F.A.A.N., was inducted into Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Society on Tuesday, May 13 during ceremonies of the Rice University-TMC chapter. he pledge of this Society is to encourage original investigations in science, to foster companionship and cooperation among scientists, and to maintain honor, integrity and honesty in all scientific activities.

Publications

Cindy Freeman's article on internet gaming addiction was listed as Number One on the "Top 25 Hottest Articles" by the Nursing and Health Professions Journal for Nurse Practitioners, January - March 2008. Freeman is an assistant professor at the School of Nursing.
