Dillon Named UT Health Science Center's Chief Operating Officer

Kevin Dillon

Kevin Dillon

Kevin Dillon, former executive vice president for administration and business affairs, assumed the additional responsibilities of chief operating officer for The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston Sept. 1. Dillon’s new title is executive vice president, chief operating and financial officer.

“In his eleven-plus years at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, I have come to value Kevin’s judgment and leadership,” said James T. Willerson, M.D., president of the UT Health Science Center. “Kevin has learned an enormous amount about the administrative and operational aspects of our institution, and he has used this knowledge to work for all of us.

“He is a trusted leader who has taken on ever increasing responsibilities and succeeded. I have great confidence in him,”
President Willerson said. “His thoughtful and decisive approach to issues and his effective manner of interacting with colleagues and other medical center leaders, and his wit and sense of humor serve him – and us – well. We are fortunate to have him on our leadership team.”

The health science center is currently in a national search for an associate dean for clinical business affairs in the UT Medical School at Houston.

“We will develop another senior financial leadership position within the central health science center administration over the next year to focus on assisting the new COO and Peter Davies, M.D., Ph.D., executive vice president for research, with administrative and research issues,” Dr. Willerson said. “We also are exploring additional overall reorganization in several administrative areas.”
