Two Re-Accreditations Granted
Two patient care areas at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston have been re-accredited.
Harris County Psychiatric Center
The UT Harris County Psychiatric Center (UT HCPC) has received a three-year re-accreditation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
"The Harris County Psychiatric Center's staff is to be commended for the continuing excellent work they do on behalf of the patients served by the center," said Lois J. Moore, chief administrator. "The JCAHO evaluation team was impressed by the staff's knowledge, by the patient care and by the overall quality of the faculty and services provided by the inpatient and outpatient programs."
Robert Guynn, M.D., professor and chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the UT Medical School at Houston, serves as executive director of UT HCPC.
Dental Surgical Pathology
For the second consecutive time, the Surgical Pathology laboratory at the UT Dental Branch at Houston passed the Clinical Laboratory Implementation Act inspection without a single deficiency.
Every two years diagnostic labs must undergo this rigorous inspection, which is performed by the Texas Department of State Health Services, Health Facility Compliance Division. This quality control inspection reviews all aspects of the lab and its personnel to assure compliance with federally mandated guidelines.
Jerry Bouquot, D.D.S., chair of the Department of Diagnostic Sciences, directs the lab.
