Margaret McNeese, M.D.

Margaret McNeese, M.D., associate dean for admissions and student affairs and professor of pediatrics at The University of Texas Medical School at Houston, has been appointed to a full term on the Texas Medical Board.

The Texas Medical Board is a state agency mandated to regulate the practice of medicine by medical doctors and osteopathic doctors in Texas. Twelve physician members and seven public members are appointed for a six-year term by the governor and are confirmed by the Senate. The Texas Senate confirmed McNeese’s appointment May 1.

The board meets a minimum of four times a year. In addition to regular meetings, the board interviews licensure candidates, considers disciplinary matters, and adopts substantive and procedural rules.

McNeese chairs the board’s peer review oversight ad hoc committee, and she also serves on the disciplinary process review, standing orders and telemedicine committees.
