Web Communications
The Web communications team collaboratively supports electronic communication efforts of the health science center by utilizing the integrated marketing initiative to create a common public “face” and consistent “voice” for the institution. Staff serve with efficiency and courtesy to build web resources that are innovative and attractive, yet widely accessible and user-friendly.
Web communications is determined to bring to the forefront the campus news, little-known facts, discoveries, changes and human-interest stories that are transforming our state and our future.
Primary areas of responsibility:

Build and maintain the health science center’s institutional web gateways (the main public pages and Inside UT Houston);

Partner with Information Technology (IT), Facilities Operations, and the Office of Research to offer institutional applications and resources such as the People Directory, University Calendar, Campus Maps and the Clinical Trials resource;

Track top-tier and university publication Web traffic and trends;

Facilitate creation of the health science center’s web standards, and work on behalf of the Web Council to maintain those standards;

Maintain responsibility (and partner with IT) on several campus communication venues, including the News on the Go, The Leader Update, and AxisTV campus monitor system;

Create and maintain responsibility for a large number of institutional, overarching campus Web sites.

Jennifer Canup serves a dual role as coordinator of Web development for the university's institutional Web sites (www.uth.tmc.edu & www.uthouston.edu) and supervisor of the Office of Institutional Advancement Web development staff. She is responsible for updates to the top tier of the institutional Web site under the direction of the Health Science Center Web Council. Jennifer works with other Health Science Center Web developers to ensure Web content is fresh and the presentation user-friendly. She has worked for the university since 1993 and previously designed and maintained Web sites for other administrative departments.

Web designer Sophia Solis came to the department of Public Affairs in 2001. She is responsible for HealthLeader’s eye-catching graphics and the sleek “look” of several other Web sites and publications for the university. Sophia also maintains both the content and design of several hundred of our institution’s Web pages. She has worked at the university since 1994.

Linda Ha is a Web developer in the Office of Public Affairs. She graduated from the University of Houston, where she received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in both Management Information Systems and Finance. She develops and maintains many of our institution's Web applications and databases. Linda also maintains content, develops graphics and assists in the development and design of several of our institution’s Web pages.

Carlos Zepeda is a graduate of the Art Institute of Houston with a degree in Interactive Media Design. He is a web developer in the Office of Institutional Advancement. He maintains a few of the universities publications such as News on the Go, Leader Update, and Distinctions. Carlos also assists in other projects for the web department.
